stahlhelm
Although Stahlhelme ("steel helmets") were used by the Imperial German Army to replace the Pickelhaube during World War I from 1916 onward with the M1916, M1917, and M1918, amongst other models and variants, its distinctive look is associated with World War II-era German soldiers with such models as the M1933, M1935, M1940, and M1942, though variants were also used by civil defense organizations as well.
Other countries have used Stahlhelme at one time or another, such as the Argentine Army, the Chinese Nationalist Army, Hungary, Ireland until 1940, Spain, Switzerland, the Yugoslav People's Army until 1959, et al.
The helmets used by the Bolivian Army, the Chilean Army (in ceremonial services), the Personnel Armor System for Ground Troops (PASGT) used by the United States military between early-1980s and the mid-2000s, and the Policia Nacional Civil of El Salvador, amongst others, also resemble Stahlhelme to varying degrees.
