tart (food)

A delicious baked dish with a pastry base and an open top, usually filled with fruit or custard. Not to be confused with pie, which has a pastry cover. Examples of tarts include Bakewell tart, tarte tatin, and treacle tart. Do not tag people as tarts unless they are literally made of pastry.
