war hammer

A late medieval weapon of war intended for close combat action. It was designed to deliver heavy damage against well-armored opponents through sheer blunt force.

Real life war hammers are comparable in size with sledgehammer and often comes with a large chisel at the other end to pierce the enemy. Though this tag can also be applied to fantasized weapon depicted simply as an oversized hammer.

Not to be confused with Warhammer 40k.
