banshee and selkie tags

premise: i've encountered banshee (mythology), nixie (mythology), and selkie (mythology) tags and intended to update the tag group:legendary creatures. however, there's a banshee (character) tag already.

i would ask for an opinion which tag to keep and to merge which posts.

there's also a banshee tag too. would this tag be enough for all these banshees? and should the tag type be character even if it's not a character of a particular series?

if the plain banshee tag is to be kept separate, i'm partial to keep banshee (mythology) over banshee (character).

there are only a handful of posts involved. but these may grow bigger in the future.

Seems like a straightforward clean up. Considering that there's no major copyright or character associated with the tag, banshee should just be used for the real thing, and the specific copyrights should just get appropriate qualifiers.

Tags should be formatted primarily by how the average person would think to use them.

i've moved the banshees into their respective copyrights. the banshee tag now is about a generic banshee.

by generic i mean, previously labelled as banshee_(character) and banshee_(mythology).

there are several banshee variants with at most of 2 entries. if there's a need to create an ambiguous tag, please do tell me. however, i don't see a need for it just yet.

i'm also planning to clean the selkie tag thus creating selkie_(crystal_chronicles) so that selkie will be freed for selkie_(mythology). but i'm unaware if more folks are familiar with the final fantasy's version, or should i keep selkie_(mythology)?

That's a harder call. I don't think many people have heard of a selkie, but the Crystal Chronicles version only has 12 images. You could really go either way.

Personally, I think more people are going to find out about selkies through Final Fantasy so I'd let it stay as is.

I was the one that created the various _(mythology) tags for the images from kara_(artist). I did it mostly to keep in line with kikimora_(slavic_mythology), but it might need to get trimmed to kikimora_(mythology). It's fine either way.

I heard of selkies from Magic: The Gathering first actually.

Also for post #1006497, rousalka's are more often spelled as rusalka in literature.

i was actually the one that changed the rusalka to rousalka tag. i apologize, i thought it was a typo error done in haste and considering the label. im not familiar with the literary references so, if i made a mistake please do correct me.

Leaving the original concept unqualified and qualifying the character is generally a good idea unless we have an extreme situation with a very obscure original and very well-known character.
