New tag suggestion - duo

male focus is just a bad tag. It should in theory just be solo focus for males but since solo focus isn't gender-specific all male_focus tags _should_ be solo_focus, but they're not. What's the point of it again? If you want, as the wiki states, only male characters, _focus is a really bad name for it. Looking through its posts it seems frequently mistagged as well.

male_focus is more broad than that. It could be used when there is strictly one character (solo instead of solo_focus) or when there is more than one male on the picture (where neither solo nor solo_focus would apply).

I'm pretty sure that 1boy and solo exclude need for male_focus.

I thought so too, but people added male_focus to the few solo m pics I've uploaded.

Yes, and that definition for that term makes little sense. If it's used for solo m, it conflicts with solo_focus which makes it inconsistent. It's also often used for non-male-only pictures, a lot of them arguably aren't even male-centric.

Does post #4539138 count as male focus? Or post #4521085? They're tagged as such but I don't see why.

Those are definitely just mistags. If the tag were being used correctly, it would only apply to pictures with no female presence or where any girls present are in the background and clearly not the main focus.

I think the tag's intended use makes sense, but male only would render it almost completely redundant, and would be far less prone to misuse

They are saying a post tagged with 1boy+solo shouldn't need male_focus (as solo posts don't require solo_focus)

Solo posts don't need solo_focus because solo_focus means something entirely different. solo_focus means that there is more than one entity in the image, but only one of them is very obviously the center of attention compared to the others. The solo tag is only used when there is a single instance of a single character, and nobody else. 1boy+solo should still require male_focus because unlike solo_focus, male_focus is not directly contradictory to the meaning of the other tags. Pictures with only one male in them still definitely have a male as the focus, and not tagging it as such would simply be stupid.

That's not even true, there are plenty of scenery images with a character where the focus is the scenery and not the character. Not every solo m post gets male_focus, and not every solo post focuses on a character.
