wiki page for "imageboard_desourced" tag times out?

Posted under Bugs & Features

when I try to go to the wiki page for the imageboard desourced tag, it gives me a search timeout? This happens whether I try to get to it from a post tagged with it, or from the metatags tag group in the wiki. Searching for posts tagged with imageboard_desourced works fine. I'd think that if that wiki page didn't exist, it would bring me to a page saying that "this wiki page does not exist", and considering that this tag has existed for quite some time and is applied to thousands of posts, I doubt this is the case. Is this something just on my end, or is this a bug with the site?

It's not just you, when I log out I get the same error (I have longer search timeout due to my user level). Until this is resolved, here is the wiki entry:

From February of 2008 up to Late November of 2016, Danbooru rewrote select imageboard sources to "Image board" on upload, such as those from 4chan, Cynthia and Yande.re. Due to the nature of things, it is unlikely for those automatic changes to be reversed. (forum #122820)

As a result, post with such sources have automatically received the non-web source tag, due to their now-textual nature.

This tag is for such posts (as well as those posts that were manually desourced from their original by users uploading). If possible, the sources should be standardized for ease of access (forum #152518), if not restored if in any way possible. Posts which have had their sources changed to either their original first-party source, a different text source, or to nothing cannot reasonably be accounted for.

If the source is changed to the image's original first-party source, assuming the source in question is still active, and the md5/EXIF data might not match, please use topic #16765 to get the post replaced. For first-party sources that aren't available anymore (bad id), check tools such as SauceNAO and ascii2d, as to see if a link to them can still be obtained (though in such a case, this tag could arguably be retained on the post in question, due to how imageboards can potentially change that data).

If you look at the runtime in the network headers, you can see how long the request took which is the actual one timed against your account limit. When I ran it, I got something a little less than 4 seconds (x-runtime: 3.817406), which is pretty much an out for Member- users. I don't know why it's taking that long, as searching the tag takes less than an eighth of a second (x-runtime: 0.172154).

Also FYI, when you search on just a single tag, the wiki page will be available for you to read from the post index page. Just click the blue "Wiki" link at the top of the post listing, and it will switch to the wiki text.

oh cool, thank for letting me know.

I do think it's kind of weird that it takes longer for a specific tag to load, but that wouldn't be a problem if it didn't block free users from reaching it. Maybe the restrictions for search timeout for free users and non-users should be changed to not apply when pulling up the wiki page for a tag? Just seems like, if intentional, it would be a strange rule, especially when you can pull up the wiki page by just searching for posts tagged with it and then clicking the wiki button in the results page.

For whatever it's worth, some wiki pages seem to be suffering this to an even more extreme degree than imageboard desourced. I noticed a bit ago the wiki page Kaburagi T. Kotetsu will reliably time out, taking even longer than imageboard desourced which can at least be viewed with a gold account, but if I search the tag and click the wiki link in the post listing, it works just fine. I'm confused.

Oh wow... yeah, that one's even worse. That one timed out for me even, and I have a 9 second timeout (x-runtime: 9.042894). I created issue #4975 for this to get resolved.
