Machine TL'ing some of the comments about Danbooru earlier, one artist seems to think we're doing exactly that. Selling merch with their stuff on it.

Many Japanese artists seem to believe we're still uploading paid rewards.

Maybe in the takedown request page in Japanese, include that paid rewards aren't allowed to be uploaded here in the first place? It may not seem like it belongs, but this is an ongoing misinformation being spread on Japanese Twitter.

One of them has even mentioned DLsite paid rewards, so maybe add that to the list of prohibited paid content sites.

This is basically it. Not all artists want their works to be visible forever or to be spread everywhere. They may have their own private reasons for wanting to remove a work from the public eye and sites like this take away that power. Considering artists have also had works stolen and used for commercial purposes without their permission (like being sold as t-shirts and such), there is an understandable paranoia against reposting sites.

Right. This is only an educated guess on my part, but I suspect Twitter is mostly a "retweet machine" that gets JP artists exposure (and thus doing other things like blogging on it is not a big deal), while Pixiv fills the role of "curated portfolio/gallery" for them. And it's important to these artists that they get to be the ones to curate it, regardless of whether you think their curation process makes any sense or not. If they don't want their art on the internet anymore, they believe it's their right to take it off Pixiv/Twitter and leave just the art they like up there. Boorus in general throw a wrench in that, and this one is the biggest booru, so they'll direct their hate at this one.

A good majority of artists seem to have abandoned pixiv for Twitter entirely these days...

Which is an utter shame, Pixiv's tag system is far from ideal, but it is miles better than having to look for art among a sea of meal and cat pics on Twitter.

Yeah it's a shame, but probably because the engagement numbers are just so much worse on Pixiv that some won't even bother. I don't know, blame the dominance of mobile, maybe.

Part of that might be the numerous site drama over the years.

Unfortunately there's not much more we can do other than weathering the storm. Please understand that anything we could say WILL be used against us, and it won't help us as a site to continue this kind of discussion here.

Gonna lock the thread to avoid making the situation worse.
