AI-generated art check thread

This was flagged as being ai-generated, I'm assuming by @Arcana55, and I really don't see any evidence for it. It matches the artist's other works in style, and the artist has no history of AI.

It's definitely not. It's a redraw of one of those ai-generated Touhou OCs that were going around before everyone turned against AI. It should be tagged ai-generated art (topic) if it isn't already.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't read the comment thread. Yeah, definitely not AI.

About one more post. Danbooru automatically flagged this post #7522364 as ai-generated, but I can't see any artefacts. AI improved that much? :)

Meaningless signature in the bottom right corner, artefacts around where the hand meets the dress, line discontinuity on the pantyhose.

nonsense tables and overall background

Traced AI, with most areas painted over. The tights aren’t painted over and if you set the gamma to 2.5, it’s all upscaled JPEG artifacts. That would be AI-assisted and I guess it’s good enough to stay.

Though I do have to say that those tiny tables that even kindergarteners would destroy their kneecaps on look quite silly.

I only recently got back into posting on danbooru after a very long hiatus and I haven't been especially present online the last couple of years, so hopefully I'm not being dense here: I see that a few posts I uploaded just now were flagged for AI (heretikka). They weren't tagged as such on pixiv and I didn't even consider that they could be anyway, so I feel a bit dumb. Is there anything I can look out for so that doesn't happen again?

Honestly not dense. It is getting tricky lately.

Unfortunately AI generators can be very dodgy about being upfront if they use AI either partially or fully which is incredibly annoying. For Heretikka, they at least mentioned that they're an AI "artist" on their Patreon, so for the AIGC creators who are at least somewhat honest and clear about it somewhere, you can check their other links.

There are some other tricks I've learned in detecting AI content that've helped me personally:

  • Shading - the one thing AI still screws up a lot. Almost all AIGC has this recognisable sort of poor shading and lighting.
  • Recommended tweets - AIGC posts are recommended under AIGC posts most of the time. If the majority of recommends are AIGC, the root post is probably AIGC.
  • Who they follow or retweet - feels like AIGC creators have an echochamber to boost each other, 'cause most of them follow and retweet each other.
  • Post timing - if they're putting out fully rendered artworks in short time periods succession, treat with caution.
  • No processes or too-perfect lineart - problem I had when checking haruyuki_(karem) for a friend and for Danbooru. Processes and WIPs go a long way.

Definitely not foolproof and I wouldn't call myself good at finding these things but I'd like to believe I know a thing or two. Hope that helps.

It absolutely does, thank you so much! It's a little crazy that this is a problem now.

I'll be more careful about checking their other links and profile in the future. I was fooled by their artist signature being included in their art, unfortunately.
