Spoiler tags in Umamusume wikis

Posted under General

In the wikis for several Umamusume characters, there are listings of the IRL horse's relationships. For example, their mates, children, etcetera. This is fine. These sorts of listings could help users understand certain jokes that no doubt come up in fanworks. But for some inexplicable reason some of these relationships are in spoiler tags? (Maruzensky, Daiwa Scarlet)

I am not a Umamusume fan. I know nothing about the series. So what I'm wondering if this is something important within the fandom? Like... something about protecting the sanctity of the horses? Any explanation would be much appreciated.

@NNescio Is the resident Umamusume fanatic, and the one responsible for Maruzensky's wiki, so I'd imagine he's the person to ask.

Tbh, I've been noticing little oddities surrounding Danbooru's handling of Umamusume related content for a while now. Like pool #17305 counting puns as "trolling" even if no one's around to be bothered by them, or just including posts not actually featuring anybody being bothered at all, least of all by Golshi. But I haven't looked at the pool in a while, maybe it's been cleaned up since then.

In general, wikis should not use spoiler tags. Either it should be out in the open, if it's not a major spoiler, or not included at all, if it is a major spoiler and it's not relevant for tagging purposes. Spoiler tags have been abused to the point where users have been trained to unhide every spoiler they see, which defeats the whole point of having spoiler tags.

I personally consider all those tag extraneous info that clog up the wiki section of the related tags when uploading with 2 dozen chartags.

Wikis aren't designed for uploaders to copy and paste tags from. They're designed to explain characters and concepts to people who aren't familiar with them. This includes things like relationships to other characters or other relevant background information, which memes and jokes may be based on, or which could be interesting or useful to know in order to understand a post.

Yeah, I didn't meant just for that, but those sections in the umamusume wikis seem to be just a list of every other character that may be related either in-game or IRL and (on top of that) they clog up the related tags with a bunch of seemingly random chartags, I'd say it would be best to just leave it to the ones actually relevant.
