I was just wondering if anyone knows if there are any characters out there who are commonly depicted with an item that have been around long enough that older images might not have it tagged.
I got the idea after tagging about fourty images of Fuuko Ibuki that were missing a "starfish" tag, most of them over two years old, and thought that it might be an idea to go back and tag other characters who might be missing some tags on older pictures.

Flandre Scarlet sometimes has laevatein.
I noticed quite a few izumi_konata images missing the ahoge tag...I didn't have the fortitude to plow through them all.
Which reminds me, how do we do negative tag searches on Danbooru? Boolean or Google-style? I suppose one could, as in the above example, search for "ibuki_fuuko -starfish" and narrow down the search for untagged images by a large margin.
This is actually less of a good idea than you might think. One time when I was new, I went on a tagging spree by searching hanyuu -horns and using the Apply Script function to tag them all. The problem with this this is that for all the good I did tagging her horns, I made the undertagged pictures harder to find: they won't show up with hanyuu gentags:0 anymore.
The better idea is to use these types of searches to find posts that are generally undertagged, and then tag them fully, not just click through page after page adding a single tag. Your throughput is a lot less, sure, but you do far more good.

I've never heard of "Apply Script" or the "gentags" function...so I meant to do the search just to find the posts, i.e. exclude the ones that are properly tagged. I tag fully manually...and painfully. =P

I don't think regular users have access to the former, and the latter is a metatag listed on the cheetsheet.
