An oddity of the tag "western"

Please see western. It says:

"DO NOT, however, use this tag on non-Pixiv or non-Japanese artwork."

Do people agree with this statement? Is that true or false? I'm surprised by this overly restrictive rule; I propose simply removing it.

I think you're missing what the person who edited that wiki (recently I might add) meant by that. It was an attempt to say that you should not use the western tag to tag images to indicate that they're western art, and that the tag is meant to be used for wild west depictions.

That's right: I missed this fact and it makes sense. Thank you.

I'm going to rewrite that rule.
