Pointless Pools

Posted under General

I've read a lot of the forums lately about the pools and what their purpose. I've had a pool deleted for "poorly worded description and can fit any criteria as long as it looks hot" but there was no help on it when i asked what was wrong with it, then edited it more.

I've also found that i was able to find what i was looking for (faster too) more in the pools that have been deleted than with the tags.

I know this is a classic pool, but is there something more clear for pool #660, Nostalgia? There are a lot of pics of characters from old games or series, for instance, but which characters from those series and which pictures of those characters get to be nostalgic seems completely subjective. I mean, what makes post #1082197 nostalgic for Digimon while post #1189036 is not? Or post #413015 and not post #324838 for Nintendo 64?

I'm not against the idea of the pool and it's always been neat... but is it too subjective perhaps?

pool #7444 seems to be more about the text.

IIRC the pool's description didn't mention anything about the messages when I first saw it; it was probably added later. If it is about the text then yes, it's not covered by just the sinking tag.

However, half of the posts in the pool don't have any text, so I'm not sure if that's really the case.

Is there a dying message tag? If there is then I can support the deletion.

We do have a dying_message tag, but it's more for dying messages written in blood on the floor.

Only the first 4 images have a message and are all by the same artist. The rest are just comletely unrelated images.

pool #7444 was originally created to host the original author's posts, and then other users just began dumping anything related in.

There are no "other users" - the person who created the pool is the only one who has added posts to it.
