The weapon in the female Aztec warrior's right hand is called a Macuahuitl and it has very sharp obsidian rocks on it (they were as sharp as a modern scalpel). Those obsidian stones were considered gems in their culture and the Aztec used them in weapons as cutting blades. Believe it or not, there are accounts of Aztecs decapitating Spaniard soldiers (and even horses!) with such weapons...

Yeah, Deadliest Warrior had a special on the Aztec Jaguar and showed off the Macuahuitl. They used a replica horse head and it was damaging and awesome. Like a Sawblade Greatclub.
