This whole series is like showing all Touhou characters destroyed by modern "advances". It was funny in the beginning, but it's quite depressing now.

Oh, man. I don't want to see Youmu catch a bullet in a danmaku accident.

Poor washed-up Yuyuko. She probably only gets hired for Stage 1 boss roles nowadays.

Agreed, except for the "funny in the beginning" bit.

This is what makes this strip so interesting: the wrecking effect reality has when Touhou is being deconstructed =]

For most fans, though, Gensokyo should remain a place where forgotten ideals and concepts flourish. It's better that way, having a place to escape to.

    That's the joke, you see.

Go buy Transmetropolitan. That's what the Aya comics are based off of/ripped directly from.

Deconstructed? What exactly is here deconstructed? It´s just Yuyuko with "former-rockstar"-attitude. It has nothing to do with her original character.

It´s funny because it's such an unlikely combination of a japanese moe character and an american stereotype.

Or, you know, skip a step in this chain of parodies/homages and go read some Hunter S. Thompson proper.
