Kawashiro Nitori: 21st December 2012
On Doomsday, 21st December 2012, Kawashiro Nitori was unexpectedly brought into the real world, along with fellow citizens of Gensokyo. Nitori was dropped in La Paz, Mexico, alone. Luckily, this was a coastal city and she immediately went to water in search of something she recognised.
After Hakurei Reimu took over The United States of America via The Bad Apple Incident, things became very dangerous for newcomers from the Touhou series due to ill will. Being in the water, Nitori was originally unaware of the conflict happening on land until other waterbenders such as Kyogre, The Watery and Poseidon began interfering with her natural element of water. She later surfaced in Japan and began properly fighting on behalf of Genosokyo.
As one of the smarter and well-informed members of the Gensokyo Administration, Nitori reacted far better to modern warfare than her peers. Her power over water was very effective against conventional weapons and vehicles, capable of tossing aside divisions of tanks and blocking bullets. However, her successes in battle ceased with the entry of Yamaha's forces into Japan. In addition to being unable to drown, many of Yamaha's machines could fly and swim, were very nimble and were replaced very quickly when destroyed as well as having power over electricity. Yamaha also brought in space warfare, something Nitori had no chance against.
Nevertheless, Nitori managed to hold onto considerable Japanese territory until North High's entry into the conflict, losing half of their gains. Gensokyo almost lost its hold had Reimu not erected The Hakurei Barrier round Gensokyo's territory, which effectively took Gensokyo out of the conflict. Nitori decided to reside in The United States, becoming directly involved with big scale military projects including the construction of The Earthshaker Cannon and took Metal Gear RAY as her own.

The Three Kingdoms starts with the advent of Doomsday, an event that breaks the barrier between imagination and reality, throwing characters and locations from all kinds of sources into the real world. Within hours, The Bad Apple Incident sends the entire planet into conflict.
By the end of the day, three kingdoms controlled the entire world, separated by barriers:

Haruhiplz Suzumiya Haruhi's North High Colony
One year later, Haruhi decides to to start an invasion, triggering far more than she wanted.
