顔が合わせられない。だってどうしたって意識してしまうのだ。
今までは普通に話ができたのに、どうしてだろう。
こんなにドキドキしてたら心臓の音が聞かれてしまいそう。
「なにかあった？」
心配そうに問いかけられた。
まさか、「あなたに恋しちゃいました」なんて、
正直に言うわけにはいかないのだ。私は笑ってごまかすことにした。

I couldn't meet her face. After all, she'd end up sensing something was wrong.

I'd been able to talk with her normally up to now, so what was the problem? My heart was pounding so much, she was bound to hear it.

"Is something wrong?" she asked, sounding concerned.

There was no way I could honestly say something like "I've fallen in love with you." I decided to smile and dodge the question.
