1. There's no canon in touhou. Everything is under construction/open to interpretation. 2. Her "canon personality" consists of throwing bone shaped branches at people to scare them as a prank, same general deal as every other youkai in the series.
All the nonsense Zun was going on about in the print work was meant as a joke. Try not to take everything so serious and literal, Zun certainly doesn't.

So all this time, me participating in canon discussions was totally useless. After all, canon doesn't exist in Touhou, amirite?

You don't get to say that there is not a canon, it's not your series. I doubt Zun was joking, your approval is irrelevant. If Zun treats his series with nonsense then so be it. He word is absolute, no debating. If you want to debate then stick to fanon, but don't insult his canon like that.

You're talking about how there's no canon in Touhou, and then you're making comments on other pictures, where you say things that could only be confirmed with canon? Get it together, guy, you're contradicting yourself.
Edit: And just as an aside, every work has canon. Games, books, cartoons etc all have some established facts that is known as canon.
If Touhou has no canon, then that would mean everything that happened in the games and print works is entirely pointless as none of it could be used as the base of expanding fan-based works such as comics, art, music and so on.
Reimu? She's either a shrine maiden or a priest or something. I dunno, there was something in the first game, but that's just lip-service. Marisa isn't a magician, the games aren't canon and therefore anything within them is stuff guessed by its creator.
There is seriously too much wrong with that comment you've made. I've tried and failed to keep to myself, to not say anything mean, but your comment defies logic with how horribly incorrect it is, that I've had to attempt to articulate to you just how wrong you are. So I guess it's achieved something.
Good job, guy. You provoked someone on the internet with words, thereby unlocking an achievement.

I seem to recall somewhere that... whatever type of Youkai Kisume-chan is (I can't remember, just woke up) has a tendency to randomly pop up in wells for no good reason. I think that's what's with all the 'Kisume being pulled from a well' pics are from... Still, all's well that's cute.
I'd just like to come back and say: touhou is a highly interpretable series because of its vague nature. Trying to declare this or that as canon just to valid your opinion or invalid the opinions of others is very immature and selfish.
Also touhou might potentially be a lot of things, but no one has ever been actually killed or eaten in any of the games, so its clearly not grimdark.

ZUN has outright stated that doujinshi works make sure they state there was no involvement with him in the making of it. This is to apply a canon and non-canon borderline. Works where he has had some influence have to state whether it still falls under canon or non-canon as a second base. You don't hold the right to state what is canon and what isn't, you have the right to THINK about it however, but enforcing that opinion on others when it's clearly false is the wrong way to go about it. There is also the huge contradiction you're making by saying this and that's the fact if nothing was said as canon then Gensokyo as a franchise in itself is void, considering everything ZUN makes official in your books would be completely fan material or jokes.
