It is? I've never heard it used that way before... and I normally hear "pink" translated as "pink" in this sort of context, so I'm more used to it the Japanese way...

I don't remember ever hearing about "blue" that way either. "Pink" makes sense in context, at least.

Some ideas of its derivation

Usually, in English, if the conversation turns the air blue, it's because of heavy profanity.

Not saying it's wrong, of course, but it doesn't seem to be used that way often.

I have not heard the blue used in this context in years, I hear pink more. Blue was what I remember hearing to refer to perverse things most common in relation to movies.

Guess both are right its just that blue maybe an older reference that is not used as much anymore
