They need to rush. I don't blame them. It took me about 30 seconds to do those sums.

Well, as a person whose once taking a part work like this, I know how really they feel.

The effect usually comes around 3-4 hours of non-stop work of counting without the help of cashier or calculator. Just purely mental arithmetic. So stressful that you, or at least me, can't even solve the easiest problem.

    The battle finally begins.

We're tickled here by everyone's warmth.

    Hang in there, Yamame-san!

Reader-added tags include "In a sense, it's over, Kogasa-san", "This spider's no good" and "Solidarity".

The survey asks about fan-activity priorities:

What's the most important thing for doujin circle activities?
    • Effort
    • Guts
    • Love
    • Friendship
    • Justice

I'm going to go with answer F) pre-planning.

Because this is the situation where knowing a little programming can make you a quick point-of-sale program for a laptop (or if you're feeling gutsy, a tablet computer) so easy to use that even Yamame can tally the price.

In fact... goddamnit, I'm already thinking about how to code it!

Making change is a lost art. The secret isn't to subtract and get the value first, it's to start at the price and count out money until you reach the total they gave you. So from, ¥3200, you'd give back ¥1000 and count 4200, then ¥500 and count 4700, then three ¥100 coins for 5000 (in Yamame's case, it's probably best to do each coin one at a time).

Hey, not bad. Interface only needs one big button for each type of book/product, large "SUM" label, smaller "currently counted list" label, "clear" and "undo" buttons, and easy to use flexible configuration interface to enter labels/prices at leisure before main hectic events starts. Also possible to enhance it by adding "items left in stock", "total funds raised" etc. If well done, it could probably even get you some money from appstore/android market :3

Hm, one way to approach that program would be to make an interactive spread sheet of some kind. You'd have all the mathematical operations already set in, you'd basically just have to add interface elements for selecting what people are buying. Extra points for making a touch version.

And Kogasa-san and Yamame-san get busy. Looks like this have their work cut out for them. I'm sure they can pull it off. Go power team, sell those doujin like your lives depend on it (which in a sense, they kinda do). Don't lose focus, girls!

For the poll, gotta have the power of love, because love is the solution to everything.

I still can't figure out how guts is supposed to overpower/solve everything. Unless zeal is thought to innately supply superhuman perceptiveness, anyway. Really, the concept is too heavy on the yang to be a panacea...

I'm not sure divination through entrails will work here.

Guts isn't about overpowering. Guts is about having the courage to grab the initiative and do things. Everyone has creative ideas, but very few people really act on them, because many people worry that things won't turn out perfectly. Guts is not worrying about the fact that you might fail, and actually doing your ideas.

I usually count up all the prices before paying, and confirming the price with the clerk in case anything is miscalculated. I've never been to something like comiket or reitaisai, but I've been in similar places that sells stuff like that. It made the transactions a wee bit faster for the line obviously, but sometimes I end up looking up the stuff for too long before buying because I count them first, lol XD

I just noticed, but the first four answers in the poll are also SRW seishins.

In view of this, I vote for F) Hot Blood.
