We do have to maintain some form of quality control here and this image clearly has a ton of jaggies.
You guys can't just throw up your arms in the air every time there's a flag.

But they do. Just wait until the majority of them figure out how to search image by flag status. We'll all be swamped.

Because arbitrarily picked quality standards that widely differ based on how biased the respective flagger is obviously serve the greater good when the images in question aren't even deleted entirely, contributing nothing to ease the load for the server.

Quite honestly, I'm not a fan of this quality-based flagging, but maybe I just fail to see what purpose it is supposed to serve, other than being inconvenient when it comes to browsing through pictures.

It's the janitors who ultimately decide what stays, not the flagger. The 3 days after flagging are just like the 3 days in which a normal post is pending (blue border).

Anyway, since this is a manga sample, a scan of this image without jagged lines will appear soon.

    Exactly.
This isn't a controversial flag based on subjective qualities. This is a clear case where the picture quality itself isn't up to par.
It has been flagged for further review and it is highly likely a better quality version will show up sometime later.

Ah, I see, I see, completely forgot about the janitors, my bad; that certainly takes care of the issues regarding objectivity I was worried about since the janitors (hopefully) operate based on certain standards.
Thank you for taking the time to explain that!

Nonetheless, I'm still somewhat puzzled as to what purpose deleting images is supposed to serve since the images remain on the server.

    So someone can appeal it.

Bandwidth is a more precious resource than disk space. Deleted images do not consume bandwidth.

That is true, but since the deleted images are still accessible online, won't the bandwith usage be the same?

No, because they disappear from searches for people without Priv+ accounts. Even then it requires searching for deleted images to find them.

I see, so it's not supposed to entirely eliminate bandwith-usage, but merely reduce the load or limit the load to premium-accounts, that makes more sense.

    Thank you for the explanations!
