Artist's commentary
My take on quite probably my favorite catgirl ever. :3
Modernizing a classic character is pretty fun, but I don't want anyone to think that
I'm trying to say that I can do better than the original artist. This is just my way
of doing fanart and paying homage to the character and anime.
First off, I tried to make it more futuristic (because it IS a science fiction anime)
and militaristic (because her race is war-like). But with any classic character, I tried
to keep the iconic pieces of her outfit, like the bell or the mark under her eye.
I had absolutely no qualms about nixing the oh-so-90s shoulderpads, though.
Hope you guys like it. If this is well-received I might do more characters. I was thinking
about trying something more recent next time, like Avatar.
