What I'm wondering is why that the violin is out of its case outside and while it's raining. The humidity is going to destroy the sound quality.

Well, seeing as she would probably have it in a case were it hers, perhaps it was discarded by someone else and she found it? I don't know, but she seems to me to be more the type to appreciate instruments, and finding it left in that condition would certainly sadden me. Notice how her handbag has what look like f-holes on it. Can't quite make out the kanji on the green basket(?). Is that a trash bin?

Oh, I see it now. I agree. If I found a nice instrument abandoned like that, I'd go alternating between five-minute periods of joy for finding such a nice free thing and fifteen-minute rage/sadness combos at the heartless person who could treat a beautiful violin like that.
