Where did the whole "Elves are vegetarian" come from anyway? It wasn't Tolkien as I do remember at least one scene where they where eating meat.
They live in harmony with nature and are more spiritual and stuff (and Lord of the Rings first became popular among the 1960s-1970s counterculture movement). People just automatically apply hippie stereotypes to 'em regardless of the absence of evidence for such, same as people assuming all dwarves are Scottish despite Professor Tolkein having modeled Dwarvish after Semitic languages.

Guess it's just based on the writer or whatever. I never heard about elves being vegetarians outside of Elsword and I never cared enough about Tolkien as to accept any of his stuff as the way of fantasy life.
It's about the same as Mermaids not eating fishes. It's just...a thing people use.

The fact that they "live in harmony with nature and are more spiritual and stuff" is also a "newer" invention. In Tokien's work only those under Thranduil and Galdriel were "Wood Elves" and they were only so because the forests in those aerias provided good naturel defences.

Wouldn't "never cared enough about Tolkien" be rather -for the lack of better words- foolish? He WAS the one who invented the Elves by taking Fey and turning them into fairskined human with "too stupid to live"-level Ego's.

Just because he was the father of whatever doesn't necessarily mean I or anyone have to suck his nuts. I was never a Tolkien fan and will never will be, that's all. Hate me all you want, but that isn't going to change me.
Tezuka fathered parts of the anime and manga world, but doesn't mean everyone has to follow his rule to a T when trying to create a manga or anime.

There's no need to be rude. "never cared enough about Tolkien" in the way you phraised it means that you ignore anything Canon that doesn't suit your Fanon. If that isn't what you meant than simply rephrase your self.
