He's wrong. Nue is a Youkai of the "Nue" race. Much in the same manner that Satori is of the Satori race, her first name is that of her race. Tell him to visit a wiki next time, okay?

she is a "Nue" from japanese mythos, and by extension, a kind of chimera from other mythologies.
but who is to say that another culture wouldn't view a nue as some kind of angel that fell from grace?
