No, he is right about the right size. One thing is for sure. The men on that Sub are not a happy lot. One minute under the sea tracking something. Next they are on the surface and jammed in the tail scales of a giant radioactive lizard. Very much unhappy lot.

The japanese are complaining that this godzilla looks too fat. even though a beast his size, while not being anything remotely plausible would need quite a bit of gristle on him anyway,
I've always thought of Original Godzilla's design as strangely cuddly. The modern look makes him even cuddlier. Honestly, if I were some huge comsic being I'd pick him up and hug him.

The last three godzilla era suits were all visually based off the directors pet cats.
Watched it. Yeah, he's pretty fat. Still the closest to the original design in 6 years for certain, compared to that box-headed, chicken-legged, no atomic breath having, J. Lenno chinned, stupid faced, flat-nosed piece of sh*t.

No, a group on 2chan is complaining that Godzilla looks too fat. That got blown way out of proportion when it was reported over here.
Personally, I think the new design looks good with a bit more beef to it. It makes him look extremely physically powerful, like he is built to Wreck Your Day™.
Yeah, most reviewers that initially had a negative reaction to the film have after a few days of wrapping their heads around it decided the only problem with it were the weak, underdeveloped characters. Everyone in the film is so quiet and stoic.
Godzilla's still strangely adorable though. How that big guy waddles around, makes me want to pick him up and snuggle him. Though he just might kill me before i can do so.

Everybody in that film is apparently shell-shocked. They should all be sent to the psychiatrist, but apparently the psychiatrists are also traumatised by the kaiju battling right outside his office window.
The new design is believe is meant to inspire the profile of a grizzly bear more than anything else which seems appropriate since the US has grizzlies.
