  • This is my second fanart of Italy with a Doge, but a different one this time :D Enrico Dandolo was in his seventies when he became Doge, but he didn’t let old age or blindness (caused by cortical injury) stop him from being ambitious and ruthless. He is a successful financial leader for Venice, but most well known for his involvement in the 4th crusade.

    I was very excited to draw Venice, then realized the CIV V leader screen looks too much like modern Venice and I don’t have any decent reference on what Venice looks like in 12th century. Please excuse the ambiguous background ;;
