i really don't see the "harm" in jpeg artifacts when that's the source and the image is otherwise good. it's no "worse" than oekaki art, technically speaking.

Being the source doesn't mean that it's high quality. Highest, yes, but if it's still too low to be worth it, then...
It's kinda weird to take photos of your work instead of scanning it in this day and age. They seem pretty prevalent.
