I get the feeling something similar happened in Boston. :-) Well, it can't be helped!

Reader-added tags include "Violent price", "Nosebleed" and "Rape eyes".

The survey's barely making ends meat:

How much would you pay for 100 g of beef?
    • ¥100
    • ¥500
    • ¥1000
    • ¥2000
    • Beef is the food of legend

¥1/g comes out to $4/lb, which is a pretty good price.

    It's almost $100/lb here, that's the problem.

¥100/100g.. Well, i can't truly appreciate the taste of such extravagant cut, at least not yet.. Still holding 'quantity over quality' mindset regarding food, not that i totally forsaken the taste though..

I googled this beef. Matsuzaka is luxury meat, like Yonezawa, Omi and the better known Kobe beef, hence that crazy price tag.

    $90/lb?

Yeah, you can lick the sweat off my taint if you expect me to pay that much for uncooked food. If I'm gonna pay $20 for almost enough beef to make a proper hamburger, it had better come to me already cooked and ready to eat, complete with buns, toppings, a side of fries and a drink.

The keychain is the right choice in this scenario. A happy wife for less than the cost of an ounce of raw meat is an outstanding bargain, especially when the butcher is charging "Because fuck you, that's why!"-level prices.

Doesn't matter. Even if it's a luxury beef like Hereford, over here, at most you're paying $20 a pound. (And they let you keep the rind as hamburger, which makes for a damn fine chili the day before/after...)

For those prices, chicken and fish all day every day. I get chicken breasts $3 a pound, and salmon for $7 a pound on Saturdays. I know tastes vary, but I prefer salmon to beef, anyway.

    This, please.
Guess I'll buy Sanae a souvenir and then go back.
    It's So Cute!
At current rates of just under ¥120/US$1, that comes to $89.66/lb.
    At Tobakou.
