Welcome to Japan-based TF lore. Like much of what we see here on Danbooru, it's a grand hodgepodge of awesome, amusing, and head-scratchingly bizarre. On the other hand, the original U.S. cartoon Megatron hatched such brilliant schemes as building a giant purple griffin.

Well, while he kept it contained in the G1 animated series, by having both soundwave and shpckwave to keep him goal oriented and starscream to keep his sociopathic tendencies looked after, it's clear that Megatron isn't the sanest robot.
