I'm not sure if this is full-blown heartbreaking or almost heartbreaking because of Junyou and Ryuuhou; probably more the former because the survivors were all scrapped by the end of 1947...

Also, Katsuragi Misato is a stand-in for the aircraft carrier Katsuragi, an Unryuu-class carrier that survived the war and has yet to be implemented in the game.

When you think about, scrapping is the closest thing to a natural death most ships have. Not everyone gets to be a museum ship, and it beats rusting away in some abandon shipyard.

God, I totally forgot about that icebreaker, and it IS a museum ship. So... Lenin-musu when? :3

It's also because Misato was named after the WWII ship in the first place, along with most of the cast: Ayanami Rei, Akagi Ritsuko, Fuyutsuki Kouzou, Hyuuga Makoto, Aoba Shigeru; Maya was named after two ships Ibuki Maya; Asuka was named after three in a sense: Souryuu/Shikinami Langley Asuka (Though the Langley was a US warship).

All of these except for Fuyutsuki, Langley, Ibuki, and Katsuragi are in Kantai Collection already.

I like the little arrows pointing to them in the first panel.
