    Wo-class carrier -> USS Lexington

Wo-class flagship carrier (the one in the image) -> USS Yorktown

Shouhou probably sank, like the RL ship. Not going to recover from being on fire and all.

(Not shown in the episode: Multiple So-classes lying in wait for Zuikaku and Shoukaku, but weren't in the proper positions to attack thanks to Zuikaku's luck.)

Midway's gonna come soon, huh? We get to see Hotel first though.

Side note: This episode reminds me of one of the best maps in Battlefield 1942... if you're a pilot.

(Assuming of course you don't have jerks on both sides trying to turn this into a flak vs flak carrier battle. Or worse, ramming Shoukaku into Yorktown, or vice versa. Ugh...)

I hate having to know the Abyss were actually based on certain ships and that we might be fighting the Allies. Lexington is one of my favorite yet I hate Wo-class, as well as knowing we're siding with the Axis is just disturbing.

Couldn't we all just say the whole game is in modern day, the ships we're using are just WW2 with no affiliation with the Imperial Army, the Abyss are alien bastards that invaded our water and that one day we'll get actually allied ships?

People are focused on the eye, but no one has acknowledged the abyss girl that took one for Wo. :(

Who was that girl who gave up her life to push flagship Wo-chan away from the torpedoes?

Not familiar enough with the shinkaisei-kan to be able to identify most of them at one glance yet.

Anyway given that look on Wo-chan's face, it seems fair to assume that Wo-chan cares enough for her fleet to show some anger at their loss.

Ri is best Shinkaisei-kan. She didn't even hesitate to protect Wo

Part of me now wants to see Wo-chan avenging her fleet in the next episode.

The Abyssals are the only reason I'm watching the damn show.

I love how the shinkaisen look in the anime, expressionless, badass and cold.

If we go historically, the Abyssals should have a decisive win in the near future, no?

Regardless of history, that scene would fits right with the numbers of Hollywood movie scene where the main character faced the alien/savage tribe/enemy general from distance and without words they acknowledged to each others, one day they will meet again and when that time comes, only one will walk out alive.

…hope not. Want to see a fleet battle instead of one-on-one fight.

This is true for a huge number of people watching the show. They're hoping we finally get answers as to the origins, means, and general roles of the Abyssal Fleet. This one episode has given us so much to think about. One in particular? Wo's expressions. Wo is coldly logical in her movements, and she shows little emotion in the battle until close to the end. This passive nature could be easily construed as her being unemotional or even apathetic - but any Kanmusu who believed this would be writing her own death warrant.

Wo claimed another victim in this episode: Shouhou was on fire by the time one of the Wo sisters was sunk.

Wo is brutal, efficient, and collected. She has the strength and firepower to deal with any threat to the Abyssal Fleet and she was assigned as a Flagship for her strike group for a reason. When Wo herself sees her Ri-Class Heavy Cruiser escort go down, her face contorts from its cold detachment to a mixed expression of surprise and anger - though whether it's over the plan failing or any feelings she has towards her associate's sacrifice is unclear. She makes no vocalizations whatsoever - the only thing we hear are the roars and snarls of her helmet-hangar. Right before she breaks off, Wo's face is a glare of outright contempt, if not hatred.

Admiral help whichever Kanmusu breaks Wo's eternal calm.

That entire scene made me feel surprisingly bad for Wo and (specially) Ri.
I wasn't expecting seeing one of the characters getting real injuries from battle.
