Holy shit! Bionicle on Danbooru? Never would have thought it. These things were so expensive, yet still fun. I had to get all colors for the folding ball characters (the ones that made other characters into zombies with their rubber masks) even though they were essentially the same product, and I had to do it again when they came back.

I posted a couple BIONICLE-related pics as soon as I was able ... but they never got approved on time.
On that note about the Bohrok, if you think about it really, that year essentially was Aliens.
I've always wonder what and how Bionicles work. When I was young I was too poor to ever afford such a thing and in my entire life have only seen it in real life once. The closest I got to Bionicles was from some storybook based on it. It was okay, but wasn't really the same.
At least I still had the commercials to remember by, watching the kids on the screen playing and hearing a spokeman using cool words to describe what the toys can do. Freakin' nostalgic...

I read about the reboot, but never actually seen it. I haven't seen one of their commercials in years. Man, it really has change. Everything is CG and no more showcasing the toys, but at least it still look cool.
I wish I could go and buy one but...guess I might be too old for stuff like that now, hahaha.

Too old? You're never too old. I went out of my way to buy these straight off the shelves with my own money once they were available at the beginning of the year.
Anyways, the commercials from back in the day were also CG too (thank you Ghost VFX), and there are other non-CGI animations for the reboot. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_fvUqO-icQ)

Well, I guess you're right. I'm just happy that they brought these things back and plan on rebooting it. While I can't say I care too much about the story, I said I've read the books before, I've always thought Bionicles look pretty damn cool. Snapping on parts and all that stuff, those commercial always made me think they were pretty kickass toys.

Well, given all the twists and such we've learned about the storyline before and after its cancellation in 2010, you probably dodged some bullets that caused arguments over the fandom. I still enjoy the story regardless.

Honestly, some of the appeal of Bionicle and the other technik sets were the mysteriousness of it all. The sets came with no words or real background story, and yet you could already think up of an entire plot. The new lego's simply do not do the original lego set's justice in my opinion.
