I will never understand why they would advertise her so much and then throw her away 3 hours in, that's just asking for a backlash, of which they deservingly got.
I mean pissing your fanbase off isn't a smart way to sell DLC, and especially when iffy and highly unprofessional screenwriting are going to kill the sales of the game copies to begin with.

I like her character design, but I've never played the game before so I'm clueless about what you're talking about. Can you tell me more about it?

ToZ is currently the most controversial Tales game right now, and Alisha is the centerpiece of it all.
Basically as you can see, she is a well designed character, an interesting concept for a purely melee Tales heroine, and has a top-tier seiyuu to voice her.
But for some reason, despite having been advertised as the game's lead female for the past year, Alisha is actually playable only for 3 hours in the game(in case you're wondering, she did not die or turn evil, she just left, for a pretty weak reason, and that's it, no more princess, she only rejoins your party for a single boss fight in late story but even then that's it).
To make matters worse, another female character joins several hours later after Alisha left, and Bamco is not remotely subtle how she serves to be Alisha's replacement(she gets all of Alisha's DLC costumes, for one thing), and even the party characters feel somewhat obligated to compare these 2 girls for absolutely no reason in several skits, of which the talk always ended with them concluding that Alisha is not as good as the other girl.
I won't push subjective opinions here but as you may be able to guess, this replacement girl is currently one of Tales series' most hated character of all time.
Again, Alisha did not die, is not crippled, did not turn evil, she's completely healthy offscreen, has her own conflicts, and even if Sorey(the protagonist) claims he is worried how she is doing, helping her is not even a side quest you can take, and the story tries its hardest to make her irrelevant.
It's like the writers grew to hate her seiyuu or designer or something after production had started for a while.
