This is the best news I've heard. Utawarerumono was one of my favorite VNs/animes of all time, and I cannot wait for the sequel.
I am, though, a bit skeptical about this new protag, if only because of how awesome Hakuoro was in the first game. Time will tell if this new main char will be as amazing.
Lobbing theories around, but, considering the subtitle and the guy's backstory, Oscietl might be the actual Hakuoro clone of that game, but Haku might just be what really happened to Hakuoro's body.
Considering the sheer impact the original's anime had to me, I'm very much looking foward to this.

Story
A new act in the Utawarerumono epic, which unfolds in the same world as the first game. The protagonist of this story. Having lost his memory, and collapsed in an almost naked state, he was saved by Quon. His personality is somewhat happy-go-lucky, but he has a sharp power of insight. However, he's too weak to be relied on for physical strength. The girl who saved the protagonist and named him "Haku". She's a skilled apothecary, and is currently away from home, traveling around the countryside for fun. Her ears and tail luxuriantly furred, she's active and clever, and seems to be unconcerned with worldly details. To go along with the announcement of this new work, we'll be kicking off some things related to our previous work "Chiriyuku Mono he no Komoriuta" "A lullaby to those who scatter", the subtitle of the original Utawarerumono. Those who haven't yet experienced Utawarerumono should make sure not to miss it!When he came to, he was standing stock-still in the middle of a field, who-knows-where, with the snow dancing all about him. He didn't understand why he was in such a place. In fact, his memory itself... who he was, even his name, was lost to him. He continued to stand in place, bewildered by his situation. But, as if laughing at his predicament, a giant bug-like monster suddenly appeared and attacked him. He frantically tried to escape but was chased down and cornered, and was on the verge of being killed, when a young girl gallantly arrived on the scene. The name of his animal-eared, animal-tailed, beautiful savior was "Quon"...HakuWe plan to release "Chiriyuku Mono he no Komoriuta" on PS2 Archives starting in May!"Utawarerumono", an adventure & simulation RPG, is set on a planet where "people" with animal ears and/or tails live, and follows the battles between rival generals struggling for power across the land. This new game "Itsuwari no Kamen" follows "Chiriyuku Mono he no Komoriuta", which was released in 2006 for PS2 -- a sequel after 9 years. In this issue, we and Mr. Shimokawa Naoya explore what's so special about this sequel that many fans have been waiting for for so long.On sale September 24 [2015]Utawarerumono
Itsuwari no Kamen"The False Mask"In 2011 we announced this project as "Utawarerumono 2", but now we are finally announcing it under the name "Itsuwari no Kamen". Since "Utawarerumono" was originally planned to be a three part work, we thought it was unnatural to call it "Utawarerumono 2", and after discussion within the company we decided upon this name. The world in which it takes place is the same as "Chiriyuku Mono he no Komoriuta". What time period it takes place in would be a spoiler so I won't say what it is, but if you've played the first game, I'm sure you'll get it immediately. Of course, you can play this game without playing the original Utawarerumono without losing any of the enjoyment. For example, if you saw the film "Red Cliff", you could enjoy it fully, but if you had read the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, you might get even more enjoyment out of being able to see the larger picture.See the world of PS in visualsBrought to you on the eve of Aquaplus's 20th anniversary, the long awaited megaproject!- Adventure + Simulation RPG
