I think they got rid of that decades ago, and that it's only really stuck around in anime.

They had it in my high school, which was about 2001-2006. Only mandatory till you were Form 4/Year 10, though.

From where I live, there’s still quite on apparently... (even though some of the students I did have to bother threat them as a secondary recess...)
