Tumblr noses are an abomination to art.
Edit: How does this fit Harsh Words? These are generic insults and the pool states "by a character in the image" when it's the artist talking.

Yeah, about this blog post. I saw a good quote from a movie site that describes what's going on here fairly well.

They need to be able to connect every dot, to know how everything works, to open the unicorn up and look at every one of its entrails and kill the magic. They don't approach movies as art but as puzzles, and not just puzzles to be solved but puzzles to be bested. It's an attempt to prove superiority over the movie, to mount it and conquer it, to dominate it in a way they cannot dominate much else in real life. There's a refusal to submit to the world of the film, and a desire to outsmart it at every turn. They hate ambiguity - it needs to mathematically check out, because emotions are beneath them.

People really need to learn to just enjoy creative works instead of trying so hard to kill that unicorn and "figure them out."

It's not even the artist talking. She didn't caption this picture with "ZUN's opinions on youth" for nothing, you know. Check the little link in the commentary.

Sanae's not shallow, Hatate's been going out since DS, and Sumireko really is a special snowflake because she's got god damn psychic powers.

But she's in a land where everyone can do somekind of magic hocus pocus bullshit too. When everyone is special, nobody is special.

Eh, what's this biased sampling? Reimu and Marisa are fully realized characters that are as young as Sanae. Sanae isn't shallow for being "young", she's that way because she came from a shallow world (ours).

Not really, since she didn't set in Gensokyo and can only visit it in her dreams.
Besides, even in Gensokyo she's one of the few known humans with some kind of innate power. Almost everyone else is either a god, a youkai, or some other thing.

The artist that made this is so good at projecting they should consider employment at their local drive in.

It's tumblr do you think it's supposed to make sense? It's more like the poster got a grudge against those characters.

If the artist want to make a point of youth's destructive behavior in Touhou, then they should Kosuzu as an example. Though I honestly chuckled at this pic the first time I saw it, I don't think ZUN is trying to make a point about these kind of things when he created Sanae, Hatate, and Sumireko. You guys are already pointed it out how this isn't way those three are characterized. And even then, this kind of joke is already exhausted. Oversimplification of characters more often than not making people latching at that small bit and proceed to inflate it to the point of it turning cancerous. But I'm glad reading the artist's note that they're aware of it and only used this theme as a deliberate oversimplification.
