That makes me wonder, besides carrying massive armaments, being now they're living beings, would the shipgirls also carry regular anti-personal firearms? I dunno if it even would be useful in CQB combat on water... if that even happens, but considering they're also military personal, they must have at least done firearm training.

Well... Consider "water" as "plain field" and main force soldiers might be use battle/assault rifles for distance. SMGs/PDW or short ARs are for vehicle crew or for supports (read "non-fighters") such as engineers of scouts because it's not so bulky. *imagining Akashi welding while wielding something like MP7 or P90*.
BTW, quick peek at search engines show that germans STILL use uzis, as PDW for tankers.
