Yes. On one hand it's supposed to look more professional that way but it fails under the wrong assumption everyone knows advanced English or lives in the USA. Because everything that isn't neutral and falls over a specific region or accent is advanced English not taught in schools.

Except Paracite is better known for his British accents, and doesn't live in the USA.

And that's even worse because American English has taken over British English even before the millennium started. It's been a long time since I saw British English textbooks for schools.
However I'm not against it. It allows to learn new (or is it old?) vocabulary.
