    Hang in There, Kogasa-san 1864

There was a bit of a cliff on either side of the road, so I was sweating bullets. The point where the road was wide enough for us to pass each other was several dozen meters behind me. I never thought I'd face the same predicament Sanae-san once had!

Today is a convention in Okinawa called Touhou Ryuukyuu Fest 6. My regards to all the attendees! Using a different first kanji from the usual compound for the Ryuukyuu Islands.

Reader-added tags include "Deja vu", "Like wife, like husband", and "Ambush".

YOU...SHALL NOT...PASS...by this survey without taking it:

    What should one do?
    • Back up as best you can
    • Ask them to back up for you
    • Dodge desperately
    • Victory to the stronger
    • Make a miracle and pass through the space between molecules

We're several magnitudes too large to rely on quantum mechanics for that to happen...

    Still, could be worse.

Although, for legal reasons, that video was never filmed in the first place.

    And that's why I don't drive.

Also, in regards to yesterday, here's Mizuki himself providing details on the Karaoke Obake Contest. If someone could translate the moonspeak I'd be grateful.

I'm wondering, do they have small sections on the narrow roads where you can pass safely? They have those in Finland and I think it would be a bit silly if they didn't in Japan.

If you disable the regulator and go subatomic, you won't be able to come back.

I would hope that they would but, for country roads like this, I wouldn't count on it.

Per the commentary, there was indeed a wider section of road—which Mizuki-san had passed by several dozen meters back by the time the opposing car appeared.

The tweet itself just announces the recruitment of participants for the Fourth Kappa-san & Vs.-Karaoke Monster 17-Hour Endurance Karaoke

Details from the provided link :

They've reduced the duration by an hour to meet the circumstances of the venue's business hours. This time, thanks to the efforts of Kappa #81-san in finding a venue, it's being held in the Kansai region.

The main point for applications are as follows:

    • It runs from noon on Feb. 9 (meet-up at 11:30) to 5:00 a.m. on Feb. 10.
    • It's being held at the Joysound branch in the Gion district of Kyoto.
    • Participants should be adults who can participate full time and who don't mind their singing being broadcast. Men and women both welcome.
    • The head count is not yet determined. It's a 60-person room, but depending on circumstances, they may have to regulate the number of walk-ins.
    • Recruitment period is nominally until Jan. 15, though this may be decided to a certain extent by the number of people.
    • Participation fee is ¥4050, which includes individual meals and all-you-can-drink soft drinks.
    • No genre limitations on songs, but Touhou music & anime songs will have vast majority. This time, they can only sing what's in the Joysound system.
    • They're expecting a lot of people to turn out, so despite the length of the event, each person probably won't get to sing more than once. There'll be a stress-relief room too, but that won't be included in the transmission.

Those wishing to take part in the 17-hour course should reply in the comments section of the blog page linked above, with 【17時間希望】 (Wanted: 17-Hour) in the Subject line. Cancellation after declaring your interest is fine, as is announcing participation after the deadline's past if it turns out you can go. The deadline's purely so they can get an idea of the head count. And of course, if it later turns out you can't go, they'd appreciate you commenting there to indicate that as well. (He's having the Nazrin person help out again this time.)

    Regarding Walk-ins
    • They plan to have walk-ins on the day of the event.
    • Daytime walk-ins need not be adults, but they caution against skipping class for this. :-)
    • Owing to regulations, walk-ins by persons 16 and under are forbidden after 6:00 p.m. Walk-ins by persons under 18 are forbidden after 10:00 p.m.
    • While they don't anticipate any grade-school participants, any such should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Anyone planning to be a walk-in should reply in the comments section with 【乱入予定】 (Planned Walk-in) in the Subject line. Such comments will still be received even after the recruitment for the 17-hour course is over. As such comments are for getting a general idea of the number of people on the day of the event, it's not as if you are absolutely bound to come once you write one. It's even okay to stop by if you don't submit such a comment.

They'll be posting rules for walk-ins after the beginning of February.

    Goodbye, land of the living.

It's just barely wide enough for one car to travel...
    Sado Island...
I don't really care for driving mountain roads like this.
This road to Futatsuiwa Daimyoujin is seriously narrow.
If any opposing traffic came along--
