Not really. Double is heavily suggested to be similar to Eliza; a parasite and human that are so compatible that the line between them is blurred almost into nonexistance. For instance, Sekhmet, Elizas parasite, is ONLY her skeleton, but they only refer to themselves as "me" and seem to have the same conciousness.

if they share a consciousness, how can they be called as separte beings? they have merged completely
