for those who don't know one of tracer's victory pose was taken down because she turned her back and her ass was detailed like Miranda from mass effect. It was the "fans" that wanted it down. It's all load of crap I say.

From my understanding, it was one guy bitching about it. im probably wrong, but the video i watched on the matter only detailed one guy.

From what I heard it was the SJW (Social Justice Warriors) aka brainless pricks who are too sensitive.

The funniest thing about this whole thing is I bet the person who complained was not even the sort of person who plays games, they just wanted to get in on the next big thing, at least that's what I got from the letter.

Also, isn't Widowmaker way more sexualized than Tracer? How come they're not complaining about her?

Blizzard was already thinking about changing the pose when someone said it was too sexy for Tracer's character. She's supposed to be spunky and sarcastic not over sexualized. Blizzard is not going to change Widowmaker or any other character because they want them the way they are. Blizzard didn't cave, they were already planning on changing it.

That's their response, believe it or not just don't shoot the messenger.

I honestly find it Hilarious that someone got their boxers in a twist over something so trivial as this, if the person actually lives in the US then they're just another part of the hypocrisy that is complaining about over sexualizing characters from games, tv shows, and movies all the while ignoring the fact that the US has one of the largest porn industries on the planet and where just about every high school kid and their mother dresses up in clothing that's either too revealing or just not appropriate

Because no one was actually offended. I'm an SJW and know many other self-professed SJWs. None of us were at all offended by an ass.

PS: fun note, one of the most universally beloved game series by SJWs : Beyonetta.

I don't think that's really what matters at this point. It's not whether someone is actually offended, it's this atmosphere that creates the perception that someone could be offended and spark a shit storm, so even the slightest hint that someone could take offense results in backing off.

Of course you'll get a shit storm either way, but because one path seems more on the "safe side" of morality, that's the path they'll fall towards.

The saddest thing is real SJWs aren't for censorship. We can be perverts and appreciate the female form just like everyone else--why do you think I'm here?--but the overreaction by some insists we are.

I'm not a conspiracy guy, but I wouldn't be shocked if the original complaint came from a gamergater, or was part of a ludicrous viral marketing campaign (just look at all the free publicity they've gotten)[/cynic]

I am sure you are more reasonable, but the problem is that the very core of the SJW belief is censorship ultimately by enacting "change" according to their idealized society. Their goal is to erase what offends them in short. I have been forced via college long ago to attend many classes revolving around activism and ultimately what became the core of SJW (which spanned across multiple universities) and the overwhelming mindset is "we represent the people and know better than everyone else who is part of the system, so it is our right and duty to force our opinions on others." Its just another faction trying to bully people into adopting their indoctrinated way of thinking. I mean, the conversations with these guys is just one big ego trip of complimenting each other on how superior and common sense they are versus everyone else in the world.

Again, I don't think you are one of these people, and I don't think you are really SJW because I think you would be disgusted if you saw the real mechanism of these guys. Those guys are really the scum of the earth and mirror the mindset of any dictatorship.

Idk i think it was just one guy being oversensitive about it its much easier to just call out the one guy rather then try to pin it on a whole group.

It'd be hard to say who is really responsible for starting it. One can say it appears to be the "obvious", but this is of course the internet and it is so very easy for someone to falsely represent themselves. There is always the possibility of people who start things simply because they know it'll spin out into something bigger; starting the spark so that they can watch it grow into a firestorm.

One of the things I've certainly been seeing is an extreme tribe mentality that's been growing. Sure this is something that's been going on for a long time with people identifying themselves as part of one group or another for various things (political parties, sports teams, you know it) and fighting where their ideologies or sides differed, but so many people seem to have become completely closed minded. It's to the point where if you're not joining them in their outcry, then you're viewed as against them. A "you're either with us, or you're against" mentality.

The scariest part, from my perspective, is how it seems that there are so many people who are essentially becoming the same thing as what they're claiming to be fighting against. Sure, their goals are different, but how they approach reaching that goal seems eerily the same as the thing they're claiming to be fighting. So many people seem to forget "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", and so willing do upon others the same things they've either been fighting against or would not wish upon themselves.

Part of the problem is that society is becoming completely split into two different mindset, conservatives and progressives. No matter how people may try to merge them together, the ultimate truth is that they each have totally different value systems and different perceptions of reality. Which one is right, is of course dependent on which value system you belong to, but without a doubt there isn't a middle ground on most if not all of the topics that are contested by these different mindsets.

Ultimately it is similar if not identical to the cold war, except the front is no longer between countries but within countries.

This whole issue take me back to when I was playing Star Ocean 4. Frequent close ups of Remi's ass in those short shorts was one thing but then there was Meracle's very revealing outfit especially for such a young girl. The fanservice didn't bother me at all personally but I had thought there would be those out there who would have petitioned to have the game censored or even stop it from being released outside of Japan in the first place.

from what the person responsible for leading the charge said widowmaker is okay because it fits with her "character" even though she has been literally drained of human emotions due to her training and discipline with talon.

So sexualizing an emotionless void of a character is okay, but a hyperactive genki type (like the majority of heroines are portrayed as) is off-limits nowadays. I see how it is.

So, out of curiosity, which do you people think will come first: us sorting out the issues of sexism and gender politics, or humanity erasing the concept of gender entirely?

The release of Half-life 3 will come before that, that's for sure

And Blizz just revealed the ones they were trolling all along were the SJWs.

The pose is back, and then some.

You know, looking at the new pose and comparing it with the old one, I really see where Blizzard was coming from now. It's was never that "the genki girl can't show butt" it's that the old pose was really... kind of boring. Like, it was butt and nothing else. This new pose is much more dynamic and, yes, fitting Tracer's character.

While I'm never exactly excited to dredge a powderkeg argument back up from the depths when it's gone cold for a month (especially when I hopped, skipped, and jumped right out of the way of it while it went on), Extra Credits just released a video from the viewpoint of an animator that I think accurately touches on all the best points regarding the subject.

Where was the outrage when Mobius' costume got censored? When Cammy got made cuter?

Let's just paint everyone "we"(united majority) don't like to be the new punching bag. It's been happening for decades, centuries, even.

-From Homo Erectus to 1960's, women were society's punching bag (now they're just mainly, instead of nigh exclusively).
-Jews have also been a punching bag for over 1000 years
-It was the Socialists during the Red Scare.
-It was blacks until the civil rights era.
-It was beatniks during and after the Vietnam war.
-It was Vietnamese during and after said war.
-It was the gays during the AIDS scare.
-It was women again after modern feminism became a topic on the internet.
-Now it's... well, I guess at the very worst we can call them "Slacktivists"... but too many of them are to organized and determimed to be deemed anything less that "warriors for social justice"... Wait, what's supposed to be insulting again?
