So, if we go back to the whole "Abyssals are Americans" shtick, I suppose we can assume that we exchanged this character for Iowa? Best dressed Abyssal if I have ever seen one.

Either way, this character (and ancient des. princess) will open up a whole new branch of theories and stories due to them wearing kimono.

Assuming this girl represents Iowa because "Abyssals=American" is really grasping for straws.

At this point, it just baffles me how some people still think that the Abyssals are Americans.

Nay, I didn't say anything about this girl representing Iowa. What I meant was that, through some sort of queer cultural meet, we give this girl away to the abyssals and in return, they gave us Iowa. In reference to the age old "abyssals=American" shtick and in reference to their outfit.

I still believe Abyssal=American used to be a thing with the devs given the equipment used by the mooks (inch, Mk., etc). They probably change halfway through when they realize Kancolle will last longer than expected.

Back then they have enough time mixing things up before the war breaks out.
Nowadays the abyssal have to settle with rapid conversion for events after events that their new ships looks much more similar to their original ingredients.

    >Ancient Demon Destroyer

I had a bad feeling that someone's theory that the Abssyals had taken Pearl Harbor is really making a good one

The official 4koma which appeared along with the game states since Vol. 2 Abyssals are not Allied (get it straight, ALLIED FORCES... like in America alone didn't fight the Axis). So your theory is completely false and speculative. :P

Looks like this one is an oni (駆逐古鬼), not a princess. Just like how CV-hime is a damaged version of her oni counterpart.

By the way, would "ancient" be really the ideal translation here? Not that I've got any better ideas, though.

Where are you getting that name from? I can only find the princess (駆逐古姫) on the wiki. In regards to your second point, the wiki seems undecided about whether to call her "ancient" or "old". Personally I prefer "old" because it fits a bit better if she is indeed an Abyssal version of the Kamikaze-class. Ancient seems a bit much. In any case it's probably best to leave as is for now and wait until more information becomes available as the event progresses.

    The Oni version.
    Ancient sounds cooler though.

The mouth hasn't formed properly on this one... hence she's only oni-rank instead of hime-rank like her sister.

On the other hand the sister is cursing having paid less attention to her clothes, because NAgato molests her more.

The Oni is happy with her choice of wearing more clothes.

The Kancolle wikia seems to have settled to using "Destroyer Ancient Demon" instead. Should we change the tag name accordingly?
(Obviously we can't just call her Warukaze, then there would be two Warukazes)

Suicide boats are not Kamikaze. These are the real ones. (And there's a CV that goes by the same name, but different Kanji.)

Let's see... Kaiten, Kairyuu, Ooka, Tsurugi, Shin'you, Fukuryuu... geez, the IJA and IJN sure has a bunch of purpose-built 'special attack' craft with fancy names. I bet I've missed some too.

I get a strong Weiss Schnee vibe off her for some reason, despite the opposite coloring.

    Probably the oujo-sama aura.

While there were many countries involved in fighting the Japanese Empire, most of the naval power in the Pacific on the Allies' side was American. China was heavily involved in a land war against Japanese occupation, but the few naval vessels they had were out-of-date and saw little combat, while the Soviet Union wasn't actually at war with Japan until the very end. Most of the UK's navy was focused on the Battle of the Atlantic, with a few notable exceptions (z.B. Repulse, Prince of Wales, Victorious). French naval participation in the Pacific war was slight (Richelieu getting close to a battle, Le Triomphant escorting convoys). Polish, Norwegian, and Greek naval forces were focused on liberating their countries and thus were only involved in the Atlantic. I can't comment much about the roles of the Dutch or Australian navies in the Pacific war as I don't know much about it off the top of my head, and I believe Canadian forces were also focused on the Atlantic.

And it's not as if it's baseless for people to see the Abyssals as Americans; their equipment is almost all American machinery with the names barely changed, while almost all of the game's standard levels are recreations of battles between the IJN and USN with the player taking the part of the IJN and the Abyssals the part of the USN (World 4, based on the Indian Ocean, would correspond to the RN instead of the USN). Seasonal events sometimes have you taking the role of the Allies, but even then that's almost always the RN instead of the USN.

And then there's the anime. What happens there? Oh no, we won a glorious battle against the Americans Abyssals but they sank Kisaragi along the way. Oh no, the Americans Abyssals broke our communication code! Oh no, we're going to lose a major battle because the Americans Abyssals had a numerically inferior force that was able to launch an airstrike against our carriers before we could launch most of our planes cheated by using way more ships than we have! Additionally, the anime is the only part of the KanColle franchise that's ever gotten an official release outside of Japan, meaning it has a larger impact on public perception.

In light of all that, the 4-koma seems less like the definitive dismissal of a baseless idea and more like a half-assed attempt at denying something they're very clearly doing.
