Jesus, this isn't even translated and I can still tell that it's probably another event that traumatized Tatsuta.

Nice story, I like this comic.
Yeah, yeah, life is precious, but the burden of responsibility sometimes make it hard to keep living.....

the other reason is related to why sailors were historically didn't know how to swim if you couldn't make it to dry land or another ship doesn't pick you up you die a slow painful drawn out death from thirst and starvation and if you drink the sea water it only makes it worse so it's better to drown or somehow off yourself than suffer that.

She probably did the best she could do, even though she could not make any difference by the time she was commissioned.

    That's my story.
The point I wanted to make was about
Why was there such a difference between the two?
    The end!
Is that so? Then I guess I'll tell you one of my old stories.
    to always do your best!
I would like to hear some advice from a senpai!
    Oh my...
    had already died.
A bullet in his temple. He shot himself with his pistol.
    Pya... Pya....?
    Oh dear...
So the moral of the story is
I found a man adrift at sea.
He was unbelievably energetic. He had jumped into the water clinging to a can of morning bread and spent three nights at sea, believing the whole time that rescue had to come.
    Please...
Two, or three, days after that? I stumbled upon another human figure in the water.
So the moral of the story is not to kill yourself?
    Pyaa!! Thank you, Tatsuta-san!
Sakawa-chan, I heard this'll be your first time as flagship of a torpedo squadron! Congratulations!
    That was a close one.
Please, a blessing from the very first flagship of a torpedo squadron.
This was on the way home after the operation at New Guinea Tatsuta participated in landing operations on New Guinea on May 1942.
The burdens of responsibility can weigh heavily.
    their different perspectives on life.
    Pya...
    Pyaa...?
He called for help, furiously waving his hands...
The ensign was young. I think that, at such a delicate age, he took his own life because he couldn't handle the conflict between the desolate sea and the burden of his own responsibilities.
He was a pilot ensign. He probably ended up in the water when his plane was shot down fighting enemy aircraft. But he...
I tried to stick with my group, but when I woke up the next morning, I was all alone... man, I couldn't move my arms and legs. All I could do was wait for help to come...
He was a seaman first class aboard a Japanese destroyer that had been sunk 4 days earlier.
