I will admit that frazzled Shoukaku with mood swings is still awfully cute.
Of course, it's not like most of these kanmusu can afford to throw stones. Even with "emotionally unstable" Shoukaku, here, she's still more grounded than Akatsuki, who was looking for a role model in how to be a "full-fledged lady", and Zuikaku herself is generally a massively unstable tsundere.

In this series, apparent age equals level and physical age... so we can ignore every other interpretation of the characters. Akatsuki is a kid who wants to be seen as older and more responsible, which is why she acts as she does in the previous strips. Any emotional baggage Zui had is gone, as she's back to being a kid and has a different viewpoint on her past as such (plus being raised by the Kaga-shan she sees as her mother figure will color her impressions of Kaga).
Shoukaku is the one with more issues than most - she was converted into an Abyssal shipgirl, but freed before her conversion was completed (so she still remembered who she was and everything that has happened prior to that), which left her somewhat... troubled. Especially since someone had to be the butt of jokes in this series.
Well, cut her a little slack, I mean she's like six.
She's not in kindergarten yet, so she's level 4. At most.
You really think so too, senpai?Senpai...Amazing!
She hit the nail right on the head! Why are you backing off?Huh?Ah.It's nothing like that, calm down...That I'm a bothersome woman, is that it!?So it really is that, then?I'm not really...Why are you...?Could you hear me out for a minu... wha?Whatever do you mean?Emotional instability....Emotional instability....
