He looks like an Empire Knight from Warhammer Fantasy. That sword hilt looks awfully short though.

Splendid, this could be Henri IV, father-in-law of Charles I, had he too not been murdered.

I was expecting him to wear his battle scarred armor with tattered mantle as well as his service blade scratched for his retirement ceremony as testament to this old veteran.

I wonder if he'll be accepted to an institution that teaches swordplay or even moving effortlessly without being hampered by heavy armor.

One-handers are about that length.

Also, clearly he isn't a Warhammer Fantasy lord or anything. He isn't scarred enough and there is a distinct lack of skulls, Ghal Maraz, Sigmar/Ulric/Taal/etc, Imperial Crosses or Beastmen trophies to be found anywhere.
