I really hope this makes it to the full $1M for that loli neko short animation though at the current rate on the KS reaching that goal seems kind of doubtful. Hopefully if this ova is successful it will inspire future KS projects for further episodes or maybe picked up proper by some animation studio.
I read the comments on troll pledges that got the KS to $500k and then dropped it again. Things like that have me a little worried that this project may end up being the victim of some sick troll joke, with a huge chunk of pledges disappearing right before the KS deadline. For now I guess I just have to keep the faith in those nekos and backers.
I've been wondering, are all the donations for this ova from western fans? Any funding from Japanese otaku?
Second round of crowd funding has begun, Nekopara now has a slacker backer campaign. Only been up for one day and has already nearly hit the next $10K mark, just $30K left to raise for that loli neko bonus ova!
What is the usual budget of an anime series? Was just reading up on the Dies Irae anime that is currently in development after successful crowd funding. No idea if it is going to be a full 12 episode series but it has a budget of $792,000, though $246,000 was the original asking amount.
For Nekopara it took $500,000 for a sixty minute ova, the Dies Irae series only has nearly $300,000 more. Is that really enough for a full TV series?
