Now that I really think about it... has there ever been an in-universe explanation for the sheer amount of expys? I know that theres a reason for the Kagamines having so many clones, but I'm not sure on the rest of the Vocaloids.

4 years late, but generally the explanations boil down to reincarnations and ancestors. For KAITO here, Karchess is the ancestor of the Marlon family, explaining Carlos, Kyle, Kaspar, and Gallerian. Gear is the "reincarnation" of Adam Moonlit. This just leaves Kai without an explanation, which we're probably not going to get. We also don't have an official explanation as to why Adam and Karchess resembled each other in the first place.
