This is why WoWS (and Kancolle Arcade) is superior to Kancolle:
Actual gameplay (even if it heavily depends on luck) is any day better than it's_all_about_stat_and_luck.

P.S. Last I checked, Archerfish is Balao-class. One of the comments on twitter has pointed this out as well.

One is the Nightmare of the Japanese Navy in the latter part of the Pacific War and the other is known for sinking the largest aircraft carrier in the Second World War, the Shinano. Do the math.

You gotta feel sorry for the subs of Kantai Collection.

They generally don't get in the game unless they're really good at the whole submarine business, I mean:

Hachi made the only successful round trip between Germany and Japan during wartime,

Iku not only sunk a carrier but also got a collateral on a destroyer that happened to be in the area,

Nimu got an incredibly lucky shot on an AA cruiser and also sent Saratoga to the docks for a good portion of time,

Goya sunk a heavy cruiser at a time when kamikazes were pretty much the only thing that could reliably sink an American warship and even then, it was usually just a destroyer,

Imuya finished off not just any USN carrier but a USN carrier that had a now-legendary ability to take damage,

Shioi was a revolutionary design that led the Americans to a classifying panic after the war ended,

and U-511 was German, 'nuff said,

and all they're stuck doing is repeated sorties to the same bloody patch of ocean to sink the same bloody warships and get their hands on the same bloody piles of resources!

Of course, wasn't every sub's actual service record mostly a matter of being sent out into open stretches of sea to just wait around and hope to find some transports sailing by? It's not that they'd say no to something bigger, but only rarely did subs actively hunt larger prey, and if they DID find a large enemy fleet, they were supposed to radio HQ about the big enemy fleet (giving themselves away, and inviting depth charging) first. (Not that a couple of them couldn't sink a flagship while they were at it...)

If I recall correctly, I started that rumor and in it, I stated that the British propaganda radio pretended to be German in origin.
