Zoology trivia time: The tiger (Panthera tigris) and fox (Vulpes vulpes) each have three Friends who represent either regional populations or color morphs of the same species. The three tiger Friends are even all the same exact subspecies (P. tigris tigris) under the revised big-cat taxonomy published in 2017, though Bengal/White and Siberian would still have been considered different subspecies when the game was originally designed; in 2015, the Siberian tiger was still P. tigris altaica.
That probably doesn't signify anything, but I think it's interesting. Some of the other big-cat Friends have doubles representing color morphs (Black Jaguar, Black Leopard, and King Cheetah come to mind), but I can't think of any others that have three unique Friends all representing the same species.
