I find this story rather interesting, and would like to know what happens next. I do hope there's more.

Maybe she'll try to find her old man, to collect all the missed child support payments if nothing else. Based on her clothes, she could use the money. A dragon ought to have plenty to spare.

There's all those H stories that end in women getting impregnated by all sorts of things, but they never really go into what happens after. This is a more realistic take, and quite tragic.

I'd imagine the reason why Smaug sets up in a mountain fortress is to skip out on child support, it explains why he tried to wipe out all the witnesses.

The issue of rape is one reason why while I love combat girls in fiction, I think women in defensive departments should train for combat but occupy auxiliary roles unless needed. Of course, there isn't just a risk of rape from the enemy, but also from the males on our side, and given the stress of the daily grind it is often indistinguishable if anything was rape or consensual but with regrets after the fact and the woman wants to get back at her partner.

The husband is kind of a jerk. It isn't like it was her fault that she got raped, and the kid is just an innocent bystander in the whole mess. I mean sure, it isn't natural to care for someone else's kid like your own, but if adoption isn't available and it isn't like the kid has a defect that makes her a vegetable, we should just suck it up and move on. It could be worse too. I'd rather have another man's child who was raised in my image, than my own biological child who becomes so corrupted that their existence is a shame to you and your family. Plus it is not like the wife isn't capable of having another kid.

I think the story has more impact as is, than if it were to be fleshed out as a series. I like the idea that it is the prelude to dragon maid. Dragon maid heals all wounds.

The husband is kind of a jerk.

If you think about situation it's highly likely that knight is at least minor nobility. Meaning that if they were already married then so is her husband. But their living arrangement makes no sense then. So likely she was expelled from her family (probably for refusing to get rid of the child) and only then married and probably for a long time since she clearly heartbroken about breakup. So husband knew what he's getting and so half-dragon is not reason of leaving. What is NOT in the picture is - other children. As in lack of them. She's most likely barren after giving birth to half-dragon. So, no, it's pretty understandable and very sad.

What a fantastic setup for a tale. I hope there is more, too. Has this artist done any manga or doujinshi? After this, I'm interested in their works.

You know, I looked up dragon girl with mother and daughter for wholesome, got hit with this.
